View Full Version : sega bass fishing in an astro city?

Hello...looking at a sega bass fishing setup that came out of a blast city cab. Model 3 stuff. It says on system 16 that the medium resolution is via vga output...

I have an astro city with a standard and medium res monitor...but takes it off of the jamma edge connector.

can I use a sega I/O and get medium resolution via the i/o's jamma edge and run it in my astro?

Is that how it is supposed to work?

Never worked with model 3...but would like sega bass fishing in my astro via medium resolution.

possible?

any help would be appreciated.

first problem your going to have with Model 3 is PSU, your Astro wont have the needed 3.3v - so your going to need a compatible PSU anyways

having never dealt with model 3 myself Andy will now more about this, but I think you can use a JAMMA adaptor for the RGB outputs, I gave pang a model 3 harness that plugs into the Blast City control board and IIRC that routed RGB inputs to the control board which then outputted the video signals via normal cabling.

don't quote me on this as I am not sure myself, but I think aslong as you set the nanao monitor into medium res (by changing the jumper cables on the chassis) you can feed a 24k signal via normal video cabling, so you could probably just make up a JAMMA adaptor of sorts

Is there a little seperate 3.3v psu I could run off of the AC on the psu in the astro?

If that wiring thing for the monitor would work, I am sure I could wire that up.

I read this on system 16...

not sure what it means by the voltage or whatever..

"Video resolution : 24KHz 496(H)x384(V) one or two plane 24khz, It uses the VGA pinout however. And, the voltage levels of the video output is at VGA levels (.7vdc Peak to Peak)"

again....I don't know what the voltage thing is, but it seems important if they felt they should mention it.

ideas?

class starts in 5 min, so I'll check back at recess :) little over 2 hours...

thanks!

I think its best to see if Geezer spots this thread, maybe send him a message, hes the model 3 expert, I'm sure I had one of his "adaptors" at one time though (which consisted of a hacked Namco JVS>JAMMA jamma lead, wired to a IIRC model 3 filterboard) which routed video outputs to a Namco JVS>JAMMA convertor

an already made harness sounds like the way to go, as I am super busy right now... I didn't purchase the kit yet, but it was $350 shipped and seemed to come with everything.

Have you ever played this game? Is it fun enough to make it worth the trouble?

I am really into fishing, and am only using the astro for X-Tom right now....so this just sounded like fun.

excellent sell ready made harness's and a seperate 3.3v PSU

y'know I dont ever remember seeing a VGA port on the model 3 boards when i was last at Andy's

can't comment on if bass fishing is any good as I'm not a fishing fan

you know, you're the second person today that's said they don't remember a vga port on model 3...

I saw the picture in the auction though, and if it was still up, I'd link it. It did look like a vga port on the front.

you think that's a good price? It's a lot for me to pull right now, lol...but I bet I could sell some things to cover it. I read that the CP can be used with a naomi fishing game. Anyone actually played either of these before?

I am trying to get this game since 3 years now. Never ever seen the Gd rom nor the panel anywhere. I am even wondering if it really exists ;)

Only "easy" to find naomi fishing game is Sega marine fishing & i really doubt the panel could be used with get bass.
