The greatest puzzle game?

I think almost everyone would agree that Tetris is the ultimate puzzler; but what comes next?

The main contenders I would guess are Puzzle Bobble and Puyo-Puyo, it's just that there are so many puzzle games to choose from, I'd be interested to see what everyone else thinks. Hexic? Pang? Klax? Puzzle de Pon?

I've put this thread in Console & PC Gaming as the games on home machines are more varied than the Arcade.

Aaaah..Puzzle Bobble....:wub:...dread to think how many hours of my life have been used up on that wonderful game:smile:
As for a second place on hours played alone it'd have to be tetris.

I think the original Boulder Dash would have been the first puzzle game I played. I do remember spending quite a bit of time on it.

I also think the single player games on Bomberman on the PC Engine almost qualify as puzzle games too.

Puzzle Bobble loses massive amounts of points since I can't play the thing properly - it's colour based and the palette choices don't suit the population subset with chromatically-adjusted eyes :)

A card game, best suited to digital play, gets my vote just behind Tetris. Spider Solitaire. Have sunk countless hours into that.

Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move) is the hands down winner in my opinion. Tetris is an epic game for history but I was never a huge fan since to me it gets so boring. I enjoy the geometry of angles i guess.

The Incredible Machine was a sweet game.

I also think Logic Pro I/II should get a mention (as well as Minesweeper) but I'm a HUGE minesweeper fan.

puzzle bobble (1 & 4)
super puzzle fighter 2 X
sega tetris

my g/f would swap puzzle fighter for magical drop 3. she may even give md3 the 1st place.

I also play a lot at zuma / puzzle loop on my phone.
I'm waiting for the cps2 version to come from japan.
