Being new here, thought I'd pop these up. You guys may well have already seen this stuff, and / or you may not care but never mind eh!

Fluke 9100 keyboard adapter (google Fluke 9100A if you're not sure what that is and what you do with it) - full explanation of the project on my website:
http://guddler.co.uk/projects/9100key.html

Current status is still on-going but in reality, all the functionality for my needs is now implemented so it may not progress any further unless I really get badgered by people which isn't happening at the moment.

That one came about from a request on Jamma+ the other week. Status: complete.

Also working on some Mac OS X software for the Data I/O 29B eprom programmer (again, google is yer buddy). Got some nifty features up my sleeve but it's early days yet.

Sadly, free time is something that I don't have much of right now. The biggest project I have on the go is the kitchen as Alien_Mame will agree. It's sucking up all my time but the trouble is, since moving nearly all my cabs are being kept warm and dry by a friend and until I get the kitchen done I don't get the conservatory back and until I get the conservatory back I can't start to think about building either a log cabin or extension to house the games. I'm stuck in a big catch 22 with not enough time right now so not too much arcade goodness going on

Intriguing, I only use Macs myself and someone was looking to sell such programmers on a Swedish forum recently...

Well, this is one of those projects that will take forever and a day because I have an alternative that works perfectly okay! I always used to have a shuttle PC setup in the garage for doing all my arcade stuff but since we moved house, for the time being I only have one very small (8 foot x 8 foot) room for both work and play, so it's my office during the day and workshop at night. So when I set myself back up again I didn't bother getting the shuttle back out.

Instead I'm using my MacBook Pro with an XP virtual machine running under Fusion. The 9010a (when I had it), my TOP2005 programmer and the Data I/O 29B all work fine in a virtual machine but it's one of those things that bug me so I want to use as much of it natively in OS X as i possibly can. I can't do anything about the TOP2005 programmer as it's proprietry, however the 29B is a completely different matter. All the software (IOLink) is doing is sending and receiving commands down the serial port to remote control it. SO, plug in a prolific USB -> Serial adapter and write an app in OS X.

The beauty comes from the fact that we also have a command line version of mame under OS X (sdlmame) so I'll leave it to your imagination what nice things could be added to an eprom programmer if you tell it where to find mame!

My slowdown comes from the fact that I program in Windows / Visual Studio all day long for a living and I find switching between C#/.NET and Objective C / Cocoa very difficult. If I had a job that used the Mac then I could probably get this done a lot quicker as I'd be immersed in the environment al day long!

If there's interest in it other than me, then I could bump it up the priority list, I thought it was only me that had a need for this frankly unusual setup!

can i get some advice on how to make this practical cos i will be getting an imac in the next couple of months and unlike my powerbook, which is in the living room, the imac will have to live in the games room/ converted garage.

how do you go about using the same desk/ work surface to drill, hammer stuff, do soldering on, when you have a computer on there also? i was doing a little bit of drilling yesterday, and the saw dust went everywhere... i wouldnt want that to get onto my sparkling new imac...

Ahh, my workbench is only of the electrical (pcb's etc.) variety so I don't suffer that problem!
